Scaling consists in eliminating the deposits of tartar which are deposited over time on the teeth. Tartar is a set of bacteria and food residues (dental plaque) that have become mineralized.
Brushing alone does not remove the tartar accumulated on the tooth. Thanks to ultrasound, scaling will eliminate tartar, polishing will help the tooth regain a smooth and healthy appearance.
Prostheses
A dental prosthesis is a medical device intended to rehabilitate a dentition, it will allow you to find a normal chewing, a pretty smile, a correct phonation, but will also have a preventive role by preventing other teeth from being damaged or moving. .
Depending on your situation, different types of dental prostheses can be considered.
there are 3 kinds:
Implant prostheses
Fixed prostheses sealed on the remaining teeth (the crown and the bridge),
Removable prostheses
This last type of prosthesis is often made when the fixed prosthesis is no longer possible or on a temporary basis before a more complete rehabilitation of the mouth with or without implants. However, they have the disadvantage of sometimes being badly accepted psychologically and often requiring adjustments to perfect their adaptation. On the other hand, it is economical.
There are 2 types of removable prostheses: the partial when there are teeth remaining and the complete on a totally toothless mouth.
This requires footprints of the site(s) to be rehabilitated.
The impression is the preliminary phase to any realization of the prosthesis which will be made to measure by the dental technician. In some cases, multiple impressions are required. In the meantime, you can benefit from a temporary prosthesis and keep smiling before the final prosthesis is fitted.
Implantology
Implantology is a branch of dental surgery which consists of placing implants in the jaw to create an anchor capable of receiving a removable or fixed dental prosthesis (crown, bridge). It replaces one or more missing teeth.
When is an implant placed?
This solution is generally offered to patients whose one or more teeth have been extracted. It allows to find a chewing function, a better daily comfort and dental aesthetics.
An implant can be placed either immediately after the extraction of a tooth or after the bone and gum have healed. The surgical act is often simple and painless. It is done under local anesthesia as for the treatment of a cavity.
The final prosthesis is made after integration of the implant at the level of the bone (within 2 to 6 months). Under certain conditions, a provisional prosthesis can be placed immediately after the placement of the implant.
Periodontology
Periodontics is the part of dental surgery that specializes in the treatment of the periodontium, that is to say the supporting tissues of the tooth: gums, bone tissue, cementum and periodontal ligament.
Three out of four people are affected during their lifetime by periodontal disease. Most often it progresses quite slowly. If recognized at an early stage, treatment is simple and bone destruction can be stopped.
Aesthetic
Cosmetic dentistry consists of correcting the defects of the teeth or restoring their shine and beauty.
The dental practice will advise you on the most appropriate product for your teeth and your lifestyle.
Teeth whitening
is a non-invasive procedure that increases the brightness of your teeth. This is why we prefer to speak of lightening rather than whitening.
Results for highlights are variable, depending on your initial shade. On average, you will be able to obtain shades 2 to 3 times brighter.
The result of a lightening lasts from 2 to 5 years, and is therefore neither absolute nor definitive. The natural color of a tooth varies from one person to another, and your lifestyle, the results of the operation logically also vary.
Several techniques are possible:
1. Lightening in the chair:
It consists of carrying out the entire whitening in the office in one or two sessions with highly concentrated products.
2. Lightening “at home”
You will wear, for a period indicated by the practitioner, and at the times of the day that suit you, gutters adapted to your mouth in which a dental whitening gel will be placed.
It is also possible to combine the two techniques and perform a first lightening session in the chair, which will be followed by the home treatment.
3. Unit lift
Following a shock or a devitalization, a tooth can turn black, yellow or tend towards another coloring which, in any case, will stain when smiling. It is then possible to lighten only this tooth.
Dental veneers
Fine and made of ceramic, the dental veneer often used to enhance a smile, is a simple and gentle solution to hide the imperfections of a smile.
If you are faced with a problem of harmonizing existing teeth, dilapidated, colored or stained tooth restorations or simply want a different smile, veneers are probably the ideal solution for you.
When using dental veneers, you will be able to choose the shade of your new smile. The color of these restorations does not change over time.
